Teaser Tuesday, June 1

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Americans in Paris: Life and Death Under Nazi OccupationI'm working my way slowly through Americans in Paris which was also my teaser last week. It's a slow read for me, not because it's dull, but because a) there's a large cast of characters, all of whom seem either to be related to or having affairs with one another, and I have trouble keeping track and b) there's so much tension I need regular breaks to pace around the house saying, "This is terrible!"

My completely non-random teaser, chosen to demonstrate these two points:

An American named Smitty, who had volunteered to fight in France, found himself working as a broadcaster. At one thirty in the morning on 17 June, as the Germans were bombing Bordeaux, he bellowed over the air to the United States, 'Hear that, America, the God-damned sons of bitches are bombing us now!'

Hello!! I chose my teaser because there was so much intensity in just two sentences...I thought it would make for a great hook!

Yours is great too! Very different from mine, lol.

Thank you for stopping by :)
Have a great day!

That teaser is a story in itself! Great one.

I've been choosing a lot of faster books lately just because I want to make it through my massive TBR pile and wish lists, but sometimes it is nice to reader something a little deeper over an extended period of time. I have some nonfiction books that I hope to do that with soon.

Nice teaser, and thanks for stopping my by site!

Sounds like a very appropriate read in light of yesterday's holiday. And your visit to the cemetery.

lol...I do the same thing when reading intense books. Pace and fuss and snarl...and then pick the book back up. My husband just shakes his head.

Enjoyed your teaser! Thanks for dropping by CKY Books.
